Artist Statement
Allison White juxtaposes objects, people and environments, both ordinary and unusual, to create new worlds inside each image. She plays with tone, line, form and composition through color saturation, reflection and layering techniques to enhance image depth and evoke a range of emotions within the viewer. Throughout her process, Allison recognizes the importance of the individual viewing experience. She strives to create images that ultimately resonate with a mysterious beauty that prompts questions and encourages viewers to tell their own stories through personal and unique perceptions. Her influences include Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Man Ray, Eugene Atget, and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Bio and Contact Info
Originally from Norman, Oklahoma, Allison holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Photography from The San Francisco Art Institute, and has studied and traveled throughout Europe, Asia and the United States. During the course of her studies and work, Allison has gained extensive experience utilizing traditional and current photographic methods, including alternative processes such as cyanotype, infrared, photogravure, photo printmaking, and screen-printing.
